Are the social group/groups in your video represented negatively or positively?
I feel like some people might interpret it as a negative representation of people struggling with mental health. It's really dark and only kind of shows one side of the struggle. However, it is not my intention. I wanted to represent the issue based on my own experience and how I coped with it. But it’s only a part of the experience and not the full picture. And not entirely the reality since I’m not constantly depressed. So I did try to add some light to the story and try to show another side to the issue.
Is the social group in your video an under-represented social group in global pop culture?
I think that I am not under-represented in global pop culture. Especially after the whole pandemic thing I think that the social group really got a lot of light shown on it. There are many coming-of-age stories especially recently and there are a lot of representations of “broken” people in pop culture. I think I can speak for everyone when the pandemic hit by mental health is like a roller coaster like everyone else. So there's a lot of pop culture representation of this issue and social group and there are both positive and negative representations of this.
Does your video intentionally represent the social group in a negative or positive light?
I don’t intentionally represent the social group in a negative way as I mentioned before. Each viewer might interpret it differently however when I chose this topic and came up with the story, the intention was to tell my story and show my inner deepest feelings to others at that particular moment. While my mindset isn’t the same anymore, it was then and sometimes that thinking comes back. Anyways, I didn’t intentionally represent it negatively. Honestly, I’m not even sure if it’s negative or positive.
